Purple Passion Fruit is a semi-acid fruit, belongs to “Passifloras” family and native from Amazonas region. It has a round shape with a diameter between 4cm and 8cm and an average weight of 55g. Its skin is purple and contains a yellow pulp with black edible seeds.
Among the vitamins that purple passion fruit has are vitamin A, B1, B2, B3, calcium, phosphorus, iron, proteins, fiber and ascorbic acid.
In Colombia is mainly cultivated in Antioquia, Cundinamarca and Boyacá departments.
This exotic fruit is also known as Gulupa or Maracuya morada.
